Instead of repairing their current facilities, Provo is asking taxpayers to foot a $39 million bill to build a giant recreation center with everything on their Christmas wish list. Should Provo raise your property taxes to pay for three new pools, game and party rooms, a waterslide, catering kitchen, spa and lounge?

Provo should only use taxpayer dollars for needs, but Provo’s rec center bond has snowballed into an expansive project designed to buy everything on the Provo’s Christmas wish list.
The average home valued at $195,000 would pay $76 more every year in property taxes. The average business valued at $195,000 would pay $139 more every year in property taxes. Even if you never use the new rec center. That tax increase is on top of the $2 million to $4 million annual tax increase the city wants to prop up iProvo.
It’s time to stop piling up debt. It’s time to put our fiscal house in order.
