July 29, 2004 Re: Notice of Press Conference Contact: Ron Mortensen, Citizens for Tax Fairness, 294-5286 (home) Mike Jerman, Vice President, Utah Taxpayers Association 972-8814 (office), 808-8814 (cell) * * * Notice of Press Conference * * * Citizens for Tax Fairness and Utah Taxpayers Association denounce unfair actions by Bountiful City and Davis County officials Citizens for Tax Fairness and the Utah Taxpayers Association will be holding a press conference to call attention to some of the unfair and inappropriate tactics used by Davis County and Bountiful City officials in their efforts to win approval for a $23 million government-owned and operated recreation center. The bond election will be held this Tuesday, August 3rd for residents in Bountiful, West Bountiful, Woods Cross, Centerville, and North Salt Lake. The two groups will also explain why the proposed $23 million recreation center is not in the best interests of taxpayers. Citizens for Tax Fairness is a grassroots organization of concerned Davis County taxpayers advocating for sound tax principles. The Utah Taxpayers Association is a statewide taxpayer organization advocating for lower taxes and sound tax policy. The Association has several hundred members in Davis County.
