Draper, Utah – The Utah Taxpayers Association has released its 2018 Legislative Scorecard. This year the Association’s annual scorecard ranks Utah’s104 legislators on 17 crucial tax related bills from the 2018 legislative session. The bills that were rated covered key taxpayer issues such as cutting taxes, preventing tax increases, promoting equity in Utah’s tax code and ensuring economic success in the state.
Legislators scoring 90 percent or higher receive the distinction of “Friend of the Taxpayer” from the Association. In the House, 17 legislators earned the honor. In the Senate, 28 members will be awarded the title for the upcoming year.
“Those who received the Friend of the Taxpayer award are the legislators that taxpayers can depend on to enact sound tax policies and protect taxpayer dollars,” said Billy Hesterman, vice president of the Utah Taxpayers Association. “We hope the public takes notice of these lawmakers and thanks them for defending fiscally conservative principles at the state capitol.”
