The Utah Taxpayers Association (a 501(c)4 nonprofit) is seeking a new Vice President of Research and Policy. As a leading authority on state, local and federal tax policy, the Association plays a prominent role in Utah’s policymaking process. The Vice President position is an excellent role for those seeking to learn and grow in the policymaking, lobbying and advocacy arena of government relations. The Vice President learns the principles of sound tax policy and the nuances of applying those principles to a variety of circumstances. In addition, the Vice President persuasively articulates those principles and their application with elected officials, policymakers, and the public. The Vice President is comfortable working with elected officials at the state, local and federal level. Established relationships with a broad spectrum of state and local Utah’s officials are particularly valuable, though the Vice President can establish and maintain those relationships after starting with the Association.
The Vice President manages the analysis, preparation, writing and distribution of the Association’s annual, monthly, and periodic publications, maintaining the Association’s website, running digital campaigns and is comfortable working with datasets, financial statements, and budgets at the local, county and state level. The Vice President possesses excellent writing skills and attention to detail. The Association’s Vice President also works with the President in managing the Association’s day to day affairs.
